Loki’s Story

This is Loki.

I guess I should start from the beginning,

My boyfriend and I had been talking about getting a puppy for months. I had been away in Europe for a semester, and as we began missing each other more and more, we started to talk about all the things we were going to do once I returned home. And some how a puppy showed up on the agenda.

So once I was back home, we began visiting shelters together; that is until we both realized we are completely irresponsible “adults” (we’re 20, so we’re really only adults legally). We were not ready to take on the responsibility of a sweet adorable little pup. And we thought that was the end of it.

Well, fast forward about a month, we ended up finding ourselves in a bit of a tough situation. My boyfriends mom runs an equine clinic, so come spring horses are having babies left and right. I mean the clinic is absolutely filled with momma horses and babies. One of these pregnant horses was having a bit of a scary pregnancy, and basically needed a 24 hour babysitter. I ended up being the girl for the job!

but when I arrived at the clinic that day I was not only met by a pregnant momma horse, but a litter of 3 pups and their momma too!

They were so sweet, and at that point adopting one hadn’t even crossed my mind. I was just enjoying some time around puppies!

But we all know this isn’t how this story ends.

Not even 24 hours later, the horse had her baby, and the pups were kicked out of their stall. The horse that had been born needed that stall since it was heated. But I couldn’t just let the pups not have a warm place to stay! So next thing I know I’m packing them up in my car for the night.

One night turned into two, then three, and then I was fostering them.

It was a fun few weeks to have the pups running around, and we fell in love with one in particular.

Yep. You guessed it. Loki.

It turns out fate had a different plan for us; Despite the fact that we thought we weren’t ready.

I don’t know though.

I’d say we’re pretty good puppy parents so far.
